SOME “TECHY TALK” FOR SHOES
In our catalog descriptions we give the “last” and “pattern base” used for each style. This information is provided to help you evaluate potential fit characteristics when ordering.
The foot-shaped form around which any shoe is built is called a “last”. Early lasts were carved from wood. Modern lasts are made of plastic compounds machined on computer-controlled lathes. Materials such as leather are formed around the last to produce a shoe of a specific size and width. Manufacturers make slight variations in lasts according to the types of shoes being produced and foot characteristics unique to the consumer being served. Our feet change as we age, becoming somewhat wider and fuller. The lasts used for shoes shown in this catalog were developed to fit the greatest number of adult feet as well as meet the comfort needs of dance. As a general rule, different styles built on the same last will provide comparable fit. For example, on page 6, styles April and Chere will both offer the fit characteristics of the “April” last.

Each style of shoe is made from a specific “pattern base”. Several different styles may be made from the same pattern base. Variations in the addition of straps, overlays, buckles or other ornamentation will change the style, but the pattern base is still the same. In some cases a pattern base is used on different lasts. Again, generally speaking, the fit of a particular pattern base will remain consistent even though last and style may vary. Again on page 6, we indicate that styles April and Dotty are derived from pattern base “Chere”. Though a different last is used, both styles will offer fit attributes of the Chere pattern base.
Through the intricacies of pattern design and materials used will result in some fit variations, awareness of the last and pattern base relationship to fit can be very helpful in your size and width selection.

CLUB PROGRAMS...
Club leaders, ask about our special fund raisers and donation programs.

SPECIAL SIZES & WIDTHS...
Although we do not have available “EE” widths from an in stock position, we do manufacture true “EE” width shoes on a regular basis and can accomodate you on many of the styles shown. Call for information.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS...
Various diverse needs from two different heel heights, two different foot sizes and other aspects can many times be accomplished. Pose the question and we usually can meet the challenge.

CARE, CLEANING & OTHER TIPS...
Patent Leather- A mild chlorine base solution will clean surface of oil, hand smudges, etc. A silicone base polish will allow patent leather to slide easier against ankle or heel rubs.

SUEDED SOLING...
A soft bristle brass wire brush can be used to “re-nap” the surface of the sole.

STRAP LENGTHS...
Straps can be trimmed after fitting to you with a simple pair of scissors. Use clear nail varnish to seal ends.

LEATHER...
All of our leathers, including mylar such as gold and silver, are treated with urethane topcoats (much as you would do to a hard wood floor) which allow for easy cleaning with soap and water.

GIFT CERTIFICATES...
We can send a certificate in any amount to anywhere of your choosing. To order, call our 800 number.

SHIPPING...
Add $9.00 for the 1st pair and $4.50 per pair for all subsequent pairs. Canadian customers: Please add $24.00 (US) and $17.00 (US) respectively. Due to customs, we use Parcel Post for normal Canadian shipments.

EXPEDITED SHIPPING...
As a manufacturer, we have to ship every day by various modes. It is not a problem for us to ship NextDay Air, 2nd Day Air, 3-day service, Post Office Priority, Parcel Post, Federal Express and other means. We will charge ONLY for the ACTUAL additional cost associated with these special shipping methods. There are no extra “handling” or “service” charges added.

RETURNS AND EXCHANGES...
There is a return form included with every shipment. If it is necessary to return an item, fill out the form and include with your return. Please pre-pay the shipping costs. We do not accept COD’s. Also, packages marked “Return to sender” or other such messages usually do not make it back to us. We suggest using regular UPS or Parcel Post insured.
